WHAT WE DO
In a crowded & sometimes unscrupulous sector, Jettison’s focus is on setting our business apart – guaranteeing professionalism, reliability and sustainability.
We’re a small business with big ambitions. We care about doing the best job possible for our customers, we care about the environment, our local community and about our staff.
Jettison Express – Our Values
It is our mission to build a sustainable and progressive business environment for both our clients and staff. We strive to deliver excellence, integrity and environmentally friendly solutions in all areas of the business.
As a small business we realise the importance of creating a positive impact in the communities we work in and the importance of supporting other local businesses and initiatives.
We do this by donating any good quality, useable items we collect to local charities, by planting trees in our very own Grove to offset our carbon footprint, we use local suppliers where possible and we’re proud to take part in the MCR Pathways initiative offering mentoring to a young person in a local school.
We value our team
Without the hard work and loyalty of our fantastic team, we wouldn’t be able to achieve the high standards we set. It’s important to us that our staff feel valued, part of a culture that motivates them and confident there are long term career prospects for them at Jettison.
In order to support our team we offer the following benefits:
- We’re a living wage employer
- No zero hours contracts
- No working weekends
- Staff training
- Profit share scheme
- Full and part time hours
- Smart & comfortable uniforms
- Open door policy
- Office dog
Donating To Local Charities
As you can imagine, we lift thousands of tonnes of waste every year. We divert as much of this as possible away from landfill by sorting, recycling and donating to local charities. We’re proud to recycle over 90% of the waste we collect.
A large proportion of the waste isn’t in good enough condition to reuse and gets separated for the appropriate recycling process. However, when we do come across good quality, useable items, we love to give them a new life and always look for a local organisation that could make use of them. This could be a community centre, youth club or a charity shop.
Over the past few years we’ve donated clothing, lots of crystal, crockery, furniture, books, fridges and lots and lots of chairs.
In an industry that can have the reputation of being unscrupulous, we’re determined to set ourselves apart by maintaining our values and ensuring that our customers can trust us to deal with their unwanted items in the most appropriate and environmentally friendly fashion.
Trees For Life
In order to reduce our carbon footprint and to ensure we’re doing our bit for the environment, Jettison have committed to planting 100 trees per month through Trees for Life. We have our own ‘Jettison is Growing’ grove in the Caledonian Forest.
MCR Pathways Programme
As a small business, we recognise the importance of giving back to the community we work in so we’re very proud to be taking part in the MCR Pathways programme.
MCR Pathways is an award winning mentoring programme supporting young people throughout the country. The aim of the programme is to transform the educational outcomes for young people including young carers, asylum seekers, those who have suffered significant family bereavement or those that have disruption at home.
Tracey will be mentoring a young person once a week for the duration of their school year in a school close to the business. The role of a mentor is to listen, support and build confidence in a young person – allowing them to feel empowered into unlocking a bright future.
The ScotCen 2020 Research study showed that prior to the introduction of mentoring, 59.8% of care experienced young people progressed to full-time employment, college or university. This number rose to 81.6% for young people taking part in the programme.
Size matters
I think we can all agree, that photos of other people’s rubbish are far from sexy. Hopefully, these images will give a flavour of the typical types of clearances we routinely carry out. Here’s a small selection of some of the smaller clearances we’ve done.
